Walker Zanger Corporate Headquarters & Regional Distribution Center
Walker Zanger retained SRK Architects in 2014 to design a renovation at their existing headquarters location on Bradley Avenue, Sun Valley. However, it was determined that the existing facility could not efficiently remain in place. WZ eventually signed a ‘build to suit’ agreement with developer Sheridan Ebbert to construct a new 130,000 SF global headquarters office, showroom, and regional distribution center in North Hills just north of the Van Nuys Airport. The shell building was designed in collaboration with HPA Architecture, as a one-level mezzanine warehouse/office and state-of-the-art stone display showroom for the public. SRK was retained by Walker Zanger managing architect to coordinate both shell and core and to design all interior improvements
within the 130,000 SF facility.
The program contained several mixed A and B occupancies including extensive meeting and conference space connected through a two-level
lobby and 1500 square foot break-room with kitchen and outdoor dining. The project received numerous design awards and was constructed under the new requirements of California Green Code through LADBS.
SCU purchased this freestanding building, consisting of approximately 5,500 square feet in Long Beach, CA designed in the New Formalism style of architecture dating between 1950-1960. The building embraces some classical elements such as large overhand and tall windows. SRK took advantage of the high ceiling to add volume to the space. The space is open and clean with finishes representative of the surrounding ocean theme. Included in the scope of work is a back-up emergency generator along with new building systems.
